13th door slaughterhouse gulch CarnEvil Dead Before Dawn Haunted Houses in Denver
The Legend

The original Barrington Hotel was condemned and closed in 1912.  Local legend attributes the hotels demise to the owner's sleazy nephew, Andrew.  Gambling debt had made Andrew desperate for money and his Uncles refusal to help him had driven him mad.  It was reported that during his Uncles annual Hallows Eve Ball, Andrew had returned to the hotel, boarded up all the exits, trapping all the party goers inside.  It wasn't the screams coming from those who couldn't escape that would haunt the would-be rescuers that night.  It was the horror they found once they had broken the doors down.   Everyone was dead!  Andrew Barrington was never found and legend has it that he and those he killed still haunt the hotel to this day.  The only survivor of that evening lived because he found the 13th Door.  Will you be as lucky?

REVIEW by: The Tom Martino Troubleshooter Crew (Kelly "Tank" Parr)

This particular house is constructed in an old dim lit shopette space and totally reminded me of all the great haunted houses I visited when I was a kid.  The 13th door does a great job of paying close attention to detail when trying to recreate the feeling of the old hotel from 1912.  Upon entering, you actually get a heavy feeling of doom and that 6th sense kicks into gear the minute you step foot into the foyer.  The goal is to make it out of the house by finding the 13th door… the only problem is, you have to go through the other 12 doors first.  Set design along with authentic Victorian costumes is the key to this houses success.  Also the actors are relentless in their pursuit to scare the life out of you (they follow you through the entire house), especially the grand finale which you’ll have to “saw” to believe.

You have all heard the stories about there being a Haunted House out there that was so scary to go through that if you actually made it through you would get your money back. Okay, so maybe that Haunted House doesn't exist, but 13th DOOR comes mighty close. From the time we arrived in the parking lot, until we left we felt like anything could happen and did. First, there is this absolutely crazy chainsaw guy out front. We had just parked our car and he came at us from out of nowhere. Next we stepped inside this Mansion and the scares just kept on coming. I will only go over a few of the highlights: The first room with the mirror - completely caught us off guard. Next, the closet (dark, closed in, creepy), the room where the walls look like they are falling down, the room with the laundry, the dark storage area.

There were lots of actors everywhere and each room just added to the creepiness of the evening. Then when we left, we had to face the chainsaw guy again. We had a great time and would highly recommend the 13th DOOR to anyone out there looking for some great scares.
